11/28/2018 0 Comments It's an inside jobThis last decade has for me been one of inner work. Since waking up in a life that was neither fulfilling nor one of my deliberate choosing I have certainly traveled the world. But the most important journey I traveled was inward. Are you afraid? If you are afraid, don't worry. You're not alone. Inner work is hard. I once heard it described as if we have rooms inside us. Some of these rooms are open and clear. Others are filled with muck and have so many skeletons in them that we are afraid to even look through the keyhole. But the scariest rooms most often have the greatest gold. When we take a deep breath and clean out those rooms, many times great rewards follow. I think this is where the saying "find your passion and the money will follow" comes from. I don't think it's as simple as that, but I do think that when we take the time to clean out our "passion room" there is very often monetary rewards to be had as well. We have to be ready. If we open up a room before we are good and ready, chances are we won't really work through all the issues at all. We might just scratch the surface. If we aren't ready, the work will seem harder and the room will seem scarier. How will you know when you're ready? Chances are you won't, so you have to be willing to... Do it more than once. I call this the spiral of growth, which I will explain in more detail in another article. We often have life themes that come up again and again in our lives. So when something familiar comes up, like value issues, boundary setting or money problems, don't fret. It may seem like you haven't gotten anywhere, but it doesn't mean you haven't done your work the first time around. It just means that you now have to work through it at the next level. It just means that there is more work to be done on this specific topic. How will you know when you're done? There are two ways that I know of to know when you're done dealing with a certain issue. 1. When your results show it. If you are working on money issues or a recovering from a poverty mindset, and you start consistently making heap of cash, you might have solved your money issue. You get the picture. 2. When it stops coming up. The absence of this particular issue in your life for a long period of time might indicate that you've sorted out your "room". In the meantime, be willing to do the work as many times as you need to.
